In the past year we have set up a local community garden club with hopes to help improve the mental health and wellbeing of those in our community. We aim to provide a visually appealing safe space for those of all ages whilst also encouraging biodiversity, hands on learning and the sense of achievement that goes hand in hand with gardening and spending time in nature.
We have recently partnered with Lewis Street Primary school and with City of Trees, together have planted over 700 additional trees on the school field. We have aims to provide more planting areas, seating areas and provide more habitats and feeding areas for wildlife, both on the field itself and the gated wooded area at the back.
We’re happy to announce we have also been awarded funding from The Greater Manchester Green Spaces fund for Ivy Park, work will begin soon to provide a fenced off sensory garden with a wide variety of appealing and inclusive plants.
We are currently a small group, but have big plans and we’d love if you could come and join us to help transform our green spaces!
We currently meet 10am – 1pm every Saturday at The Castle for a brew and some breakfast, and then venture from there weather permitting.
