Developments at The Castle Community Centre Overview
Dave and Judy, along with other organisations have spent a number of years developing the facilities at The Castle Community Centre. We now have some exciting opportunities to further develop the building by converting the cellar to another large community space , having a new roof and taking in the land at the side of The Castle (leaving the right of way from Mellor Street to Lewis Street) to provide a garden and play area.
We will be applying for large finding for this project and to help us with this we would be grateful if you could complete the survey attached as this will ensure we develop the building in a way that is helpful for the local community.
When The Castle first opened we formed The Castle Community Association. This continues to run and works with all groups using the building. As we have grown and wanted to be involved in developing further projects we recently formed Patricroft Community Group CIC which gives us a wider remit and enables us to apply for larger funding.
At present we are working with other organisations including Lewis Street School, Salford Council and Foundation 92 to provide a Community café a staff space for Lewis Street staff and smaller rooms for group/community meetings in the old Lewis Street Post office.
We are also considering becoming ‘Friends of Ivy Park’ to see if we can play a part in providing further facilities adding to those that local residents worked so hard to provide a number of years ago.
Patricroft CIC have put together a survey that can be completed online by all ages. Please do fill them as it is very important we have your feedback. If you are having difficulty with the forms you can email us at thecastlecommunitycentre@gmail.com and we will send you a copy by email. Alternatively if you would rather chat through your ideas please let us know and we will arrange to call you.
